mostly ukr hetalia fans were in ru fd, but r*ssians were as obnoxious as they are, and were pretty contempt with the narrative of manga. it's literally the most perfect ground for their imperialism to bloom.

i kid you not, i read so much imperialistic crap when I was logged on ficbook, it literally radicalised me, it was my villain origin story, full on jokerisation.

there is everything from ru propaganda textbooks you ever heard. ru descending from kyivan rus, ru being a "brother" to Ukraine and Belarus, ussr being this happy common family house, Ukraine wanting to interact with her "brother" but her government forbidding it, Belarus wanting to be one with ru and so much more it's insane.

i literally read a fanfic where ru launched a full scale third world war and it was portrayed as good and justified thing because eu and usa kept calling him an Empire of the Evil.

Or literally every fanfic where he is like "im the most hated and abused and oppressed country in the world" like no mf you're not?!? the fuck?!?

and every SINGLE ship with ru is abusive by default, because ru has ravaged and/or invaded and occupied a shittone of othe countries.

and maybe there was a Hetalia discourse on Tumbltlr and in english-speaking segment of fandom, but there is no such thing in ru fd??? they wrote SO MUCH hateful and outright fascist hetalia fanfiction about 2014 Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine, that their fanfiction website had to establish a new rule, that forbade to write fanfiction about recent real life events for up to 5 year since the event. like it was BAD. and ru Hetalia fd was one of the worst there.

but what do you think, it didn't stop r*ssians from writing aph/hws Ukraine as a traitor of her Family ™, who is being mislead by Da Rotten West ™, and is too stupid to actually See™ their rotten intentions. But ru CAN see it an he is oh so worried that Da Rotten West ™ would hurt his "sister" and exploit her. Yeah, it's the dominant narrative in the ru hetalia fd, and it has been all these years AFTER the beginning of the war in Ukraine in 2014, after the annexation of Crimea, after everything. After r*ssia already has been hurting Ukraine for 9 years. after they established a torture chambers and concentration camp for POWs, after they began to marginalise crimean tatars.

Hetalia ru fandom is vile. these people were 12-13 and older teens when the war started. and yet they jumped on this bandwagon of state propaganda without any objections like it was a natural thing to do. and they kept this narrative alive for all the 9 years of war. and after the full-scale invasion they were writing vile and nasty shit to ukrainian writers who tried to spread awareness about the war.

there is no redeeming explanation for this. a genuinely hope the all will regret it in the end.
